Modify the new coupler pocket as shown.

Pull the brass rods out of the sides of the boiler. Lay loco on its side and remove the two screws which hold the pilot beam in place. It can now be pulled up and free of the loco. Remove the two screws that hold the pilot to the beam and pull the pilot off. The coupler must now be cut off the beam. File surface so that it is flush. Position the new coupler pocket on the beam making sure it is on center and mark the two screw holes. Remove and drill with a 5/64" drill. The coupler pocket can now be assembled with the coupler, springs, spring stop and lid. Mount on the beam using the supplied #2x3/8" pan head screws. The pilot must be notched for clearance with a small saw. It can also be chiseled or whittled out. Modify as shown. The pilot can now be screwed back onto the beam and then reinstalled on the loco.
