Passenger cars can be equipped with truck mounted couplers using the correct conversion bolster attachment. Truck mounted couplers permit closer coupling on radii down to 18" without causing binding for most passenger cars. When replacing wheel sets on Central Valley trucks, the rivet holding the sideframe must be drilled out and replaced with an appropriately sized screw. The sideframe can now be rotated slightly to release the wheel set for replacement with a Kadee® non-magnetic wheelsets.
Each kit contains a pair of Draft Gear Boxes, one pair of NO.5®Couplers, #634 Centering Springs, screws, special bolsters and instructions.
