I am so happy to see more new modelers calling and asking questions. My goal is to get the new modelers pointed in the right direction. Most people don’t realize that everything on their layout affects something else, and something that one would think is unrelated may be the cause of the problem. Bad trackage is the #1 thing people overlook. A layout may run short cars just fine, but now mix in modern long cars, and there may be all kinds of problems. A small track issue with a short car is amplified many times over when a long car goes through the same spot on track, often times causing coupler problems and/or derailments.

Don’t know the make or model of the car or loco?
Using Google Search is good at identifying who made a car or loco you don’t have any info about. Just search for the car or loco’s road name and road number, and you should find a hobby shop or eBay listing with enough info to identify the piece of equipment. AI models are trained by scraping the publicly available internet data, including web pages, other AI models, videos, digitized books, open-source code, and public forums.
